Christian Counseling

"God is love." I John 4.8 The Holy Bible

I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT...

Whether you're a Christian or not, as long as you're open to a biblically consistent, cognitive-behavioral style of counseling, I'd love to help you discover a God-honoring, positive outcome to your problem. I counsel only by appointment, generally at my office in Farmville and sometimes by phone or snail-mail. I don't charge a fee, nor do I accept health-insurance payments, so my ministry is not materially profitable to me. I'm glad to accept free-will offerings, which I use only to cover ministry expenses.

I listen. If you want my input, know that I counsel people with problems in getting along with others, whether in marriage, family, work place, wherever. I counsel people with anger, grief, depression, stress, anxiety, fear, panic, dread, worry, addictions. And I want to be here for you should your problem be so embarrassing you can hardly talk about it. -- I urge you to remember here that God's Word tells us: "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man... " (I Corinthians 10:13).

Should you be wondering what, in a nutshell, I believe, I’m glad to tell you. I believe that the original text of the Bible is the inerrant word of God; that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human; that He was conceived and born of the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit; that, through His death on the cross, all the sins of anyone who repents and comes to Him are forgiven; that He arose from the dead; that He ascended into heaven; that He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe that salvation is solely by grace, through God-given faith in Jesus Christ.

My Credentials: I am licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice as a professional counselor and board certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice as a substance abuse counselor. I am an International Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor. I have held, or do now hold membership in a number of professional associations, including Association of Biblical Counselors, National Association of Christian Counselors, National Board of Certified Counselors, and National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors. I have a master’s degree in counseling from Liberty University; have done graduate work in communications at Regent University; have taught social studies at Southside Virginia Community College; have been a workshop leader for counselors of alcohol/drug addictions.
